Ah, the highlight of my day

I realize this is not exactly a sophisticated post. But it's hard to be sophisticated when you are home with a 3 month old all day, right? Right.

This was the coolest (yes, sarcasm) part of my entire day. And the worst explosion to date...

I'm pretty sure that there was more out of the diaper than in. And the weird thing is, it didn't even sound bad at all. It just sounded normal....I mean, we've had some loud explosions that were bad...but this...wow.

He was on my bed. Skyler had a bath, the sheets got washed, I took a shower.

Neat.

But he's still cute. He's hanging out on his play mat right now.

"Hey mom...I see a duck!"

Yesterday, he actually held onto things and brought them to his mouth! "mmm, plastic"

tummy time drool

Tomorrow we are heading off to Sedona a night. I braved hotwire, and got $40 off a hotel! I tried to guess which hotel it would be, and I was right! Sweet! I'm not sure exactly what we are going to do, but I hope the pool is warm enough for Skyler to be happy. Man, that kid loves the water. I'm looking forward to a little break! It should be a lot of fun.

So I am currently reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer, and I really like it so far. I need to finish that and all of the Twilight books before August 2nd so I'll be refresed for the new book! I'm really excited. It's nice to have books to be excited about now that Harry Potter is finished. I wonder what I will be excited about after Twilight. At least I still have 2 HP movies!

Have I mentioned I want Rock Band for Wii? I SOOOOO want it. I think that my birthday can't come fast enough...I remember when I was 6 and wanted new Gameboy games...yes, 20 years later, I want the same presents!

Part of my calling is arranging babysitting for people who want to go to the temple. Right now, how it works, is people sign up to babysit, and everyone drives down to Snowflake and a couple watches everyone's kids in a church building. Unfortunately, people don't sign up very often to baby sit (I wouldn't want to drive down just to babysit) so it's tough. Any suggestions on how to make that better? I really need to do something soon. I'm also reminded that I need to call the temple and reserve spots for the next temple day. I should do that NOW!

Sorry this is boring. But there's cute pictures!

I don't have anything super excited to say, I just feel like I haven't blogged in a while.
Ummmmmmmmmm

Basically, the baby and I hang out, run errands, go to play groups, hang out with friends, clean up, etc during the day. Nate goes to work....

lol, this is a really exciting post.

We're going to go on a little weekend trip for the 4th of July. I think we're going to go to Sedona or Jerome and stay in a bed and breakfast there or something. There's lots of outdoor hiking type stuff we'd like to do, but I think until Skyler can hold his head up enough to strap him to our back, that's out. I am VERY excited to go on a trip though.

Relating to travel: Every time Nate goes to China, we get a free domestic plane ticket! He gets DOUBLE frequent flyer miles. I'm thinking, Hawaii next year (after 3 trips, we have enough for 2 tickets to Hawaii! WOW!) So, I was happy he got to go to China for him and all that, but really miss him while he's gone...but now I'm like, yay, another trip for you means more trips for us!! Sweeeet! We are planning a trip to Houston soon. That will be our first trip for sure.

Today I'm doing laundry. That's pretty exciting.

Here's some pictures just to make this a super cute post.

Most are from our trip to Salt Lake. This last one is Father's Day/Skyler's blessing day. That's like the biggest baby to get blessed EVER! Oh well, he's cute.

the laughing boy!

Yay! I'm so excited. Last night before bed, Skyler and I were playing and he was sooooo happy. I kissed him on the cheek, and apparantly it was hilarious, because he laughed! So I kissed him again, and he laughed again! yay! It was pretty darn cute. I hope it does it again soon for Nate.

Also, he's trying SO hard to grab. We dangle things and he concentrates SO hard and he can touch things..just no grabbing yet.

Uh oh, he's awake. Doh!

Another tag, with photos

Well, Skyler is still sleeping and this one is cool I think, soooo, here we go:

The rules are you CANNOT clean before hand, just go take the pictures and post them.

1. Favorite place.
Well, there was this cool beach in Australia, but those pics aren't on my computer. I don't know that I really have a favorite place in my house, sooo...

2. Self-Portrait

i loook HOT

3. What are your kids doing RIGHT NOW?

Sleeping, almost completely face planted into the ground...I hate it when he does that!

4. Favorite Shoes

Definitely my Teva flip-flops. I'm so glad it's summer!

5. What does the inside of your fridge look like?

Messy!

6. Show us the favorite room in your house

Definitely the nursery!

7. Show us your kitchen sink!

It's just today's dishes, phew, glad I cleaned up last night!

8. Show us your second bathroom:

Um, no one uses this one, so it's clean!

9. Show us your master bedroom closet!

It's just my stuff. It's a really small closet, so Nate uses the closet in the hall.

10. Show us your laundry room!

We don't have a laundry room, but here's our laundry closet. It didn't even come with shelves, we had to put that shelf in! My favorite part is the engineering books that have been waiting to go to someone's work for 8 months......... :)

I tag EVERYONE!

Tagged

I never do these, but Skyler is sleeping and I really don't feel like cleaning...SO:

Rules first: I need to answer 6 questions. I then tag 6 people and post their names here, then go to their blog and comment to tell them that they have been tagged and to visit here to find out the rules. I must then let the person who tagged me know when I have posted my answers.

1) 5 things on my "to do" list:

1. Laundry
2. Clean kitchen
3. Frame our lovely professional pics of Skyler! And I need to choose 3 more pics to get...
4. Work on my really stupid SEI class/study for the test so I can get my teaching certificate
5. Read The Host!

2) 5 Snacks I LOVE!
1. Apples...mmm, I've been on an apple kick lately
2. brownies
3. Doritos
4. STRAWBERRIES! mmmmm!
5. ummm, strawberries again. I'm pretty obsessed with them.

3) 5 Things I’d do if I suddenly became a millionaire:
1. Buy a house..or pay off our townhome at least!
2. I'd for sure donate to charity, maybe to autism or something, because that scares me!
3. New furniture!
4. Travel around the world. I'm talking EVERYWHERE.
5. And um, Rock Band and Guitar Hero for Wii....I'm a dork.

4) 5 Places I've lived: (I will do this in order)
1. Salt Lake City, UT
2. Texarkana, TX
3. Bryan/College Station, TX
4. Huntsville, AL
5. Tuscaloosa, AL...also, Melbourne Australia, Grantsville, UT and now Flagstaff, AZ

5) 5 Jobs I've had:
1. Wendy's. It was really a fun job. I was the drive thru order taker.
2. Some German restaurant...I can't remember the name, but I was a hostess. I hated that job.
3. Bruno's, grocery store in Tuscaloosa. I worked in the deli and moved to be a checker.
4. GHS, band director
5. Elementary band/general music in Flag...and now I'm a mom!

6) 5 things people don't know about me:
1. I'm pretty darn shy in a way...If people are outgoing to me first, then I open up way faster.
2. I hate using the phone, especially calling people I don't know. I don't mind when it's a friend or family member.
3. I got attacked by a dog when I was like 3 and still have some scars, but I'm not scared of dogs
4. I'm a huge band dork...oh wait, people probably know that about me. I was pretty obsessed with band in high school...and middle school...and college. But hey, my clarinet paid for college, so there!
5. I don't like pumpkin pie. It's supposedly a weird thing to hate, but hey, I'd rather eat brownies or strawberry pie or chocolate cake.

Ummmmmmm, I tag....ummmmmmmmmmm, Ashley, Cliff, Kim, Rrrrrrbecca...and whoever else feels like doing this! But if you guys don't feel like doing this, that's okay too because I never do these things!

Happy 2nd Anniversary!

Yup, it's true, we've been married 2 years today....ohhh, and it's Friday the 13th, scary.

We met at a random BBQ that ppl in our ward put on. Nate had just got back from China and I think I had just ended marching season with the high school I taught at (Ugggghhhh, marching season!) I thought he was cute but didn't think he would like me because he was a little older and grad student and stuff. But I guess I was done with college so I wasn't THAT young. The first night we hung out was when we went to see Harry Potter 4 with a big group on opening night. But the theater was so crowded so we got stuck sitting together, oops! Then the next night the girls were going to go out to see some girly movie but I really wanted to invite Nate so I asked my friend for his number and said somethng stupid to Nate like, "Amanda wants to know if you can come tonight" which left him all confused, oh well. Luckily for him, the movie was sold out so we went bowling. I totally liked him right away and he liked me too! wow! So we started dating in November, were engaged in March and got married June 13, 2006! Everything happened so fast, but it felt right so we went with it. I'm so lucky to be married to such a wonderful man. He is a great husband and father!

We get to celebrate tonight by going on a DATE...by ourselves...no Skyler! I love that kid, but dang, he is wearing us (me!) out this week. We NEED a date! I'm so happy his parents are in town to visit this weekend.

Aww, wedding pictures:

tv entertains all...

I really don't want to be a mom that just entertains their kid with tv all day. Seriously. We try to play music during the day instead so I'm not watching tv all day either. Well, last night we caught him watching tv (Scrubs), so I put on a Baby Einstein dvd that we bought before he was even born ($2 at Savers, score!). He was fascinated, but tired so he only watched it for like 5 minutes. I put it on this morning and he's totally into it, cooing and smiling and bouncing excitedly in his chair. He can't take his eyes off. Soooo, maybe I will entertain my kid with tv for a small part of the day.....I think the back of the dvd says for kids like 12 months...but hey, if a 2 month old is into it, so be it! :)

Our trip to Salt lake was good. The worst part of traveling was getting through security by myself with alllll of our crap! Ugh! Skyler was really good and easy on the plane. on the way home, my parents could help me through security because their flight was 30 minutes after mine! AND I left from gate A1 and they left from A2! We couldn't have planned it better. Anyways, it was good to see everyone and I'm glad that everyone got to see the cute boy. We did lots of sitting around of course, but less than usual! Good for us! The WORST part of the trip was really for Nate. He got stuck in China. They made them sit on the plane for 4 hours (un-airconditioned!), etc, etc, etc, basically it was 9 hours for them to say "the flight is cancelled." So I waited for him in Phoenix. Nate's aunt came and helped me get all of our stuff and got us set up at a nice hotel for cheap! I took Skyler swimming there and he didn't hate it...I never got a smile, but at least he didn't cry. He loves baths, but I guess pools are just not that warm. Anyway, so Nate came in Sunday at 10 instead of Saturday at 1. Doh. His sleep schedule is pretty messed up still. I hope he's back to normal soon!

Here's one picture of our trip:

This is Skyler and cousin Luke! "Who IS this guy?!" Skyler wonders. My mom and Grandma got tons of other pictures which I haven't got yet, so I'll post more later.
I'm in serious work-out/lose weight mode, so I should go walk! yay!
